A mid 19th century Vermont senator and friend of Abraham Lincoln once wrote, “The good people of Woodstock have less incentive than others to yearn for heaven”. The same could be said today, for this lovely historic town has remained a destination for a variety of people seeking a better and more relaxed way of life. The pristine New England village, which is located near the Connecticut River Valley about a third of the way up the state, is nestled among lush rolling hills and enjoys clean waterways and crisp fresh air and a safe and comfortable lifestyle. The thoughtfully preserved architecture of the homes, the unparalleled beauty of the countryside, the easy pace of life still attract visitors and full time residents alike. Many like to cite a more recent accolade stating that Woodstock is “one of the six prettiest villages in the country”.
Recreational, cultural, educational amenities abound within an easy drive of town: Appalachian Trail, Silver Lake, several ski areas, the historic Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park, Dartmouth College and all its cultural benefits, northern New England’s largest and best medical facility, good libraries and continuing education opportunities. Many people enjoy simply traveling the picturesque country roads and reminiscing about a way of life that used to exist. Ask us, and we’ll provide many more examples. |
